Do not be surprised if you see Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Tom Cruise wearing a Sherwani. Italian fashion giant, Giorgio Armani, has included sherwani in its collection.
India is 3rd most brand conscious country in the world with Greece leading the way followed by Hong Kong.
Surveys have shown that the top brands that Indian consumers spend on are Calvin Klein (34%), Gucci (25%), Diesel (24%), Christian Dior (16%), and DKNY (10%). India has also made it to the top ten markets globally for some of the brands. India ranks 3rd highest globally for people who buy Gucci products. It ranks 6th for Calvin Klein, 9th for Diesel, and 10th for Fendi for buying these brands globally.
“The fact that Armani is embracing and producing the Indian sherwani in its recent collections proves the inspiration that India provides to the high-end Italian fashion world,” industry body CII, said.
CII, which is collaborating with Altagamma, said it would provide a platform to Italian brands for establishing partnerships in India, which is poised to emerge as one of the world’s top five markets for luxury brands by 2025. Altagamma, the association of Italian brands, is bringing some top names like Versace, Gucci, La Perla and Alberta Ferretti
