Mumbai has been attacked once again. This time luxury hotels, hospitals, railway stations, and restaurants have been made target. More Americans and British than Indians. Again, lives have been lost.
Media, news channels, online news, bloggers, witnesses, and victims are now reporting this nightmare while military and commandos are trying to gauge the event.
The firing and bombing apparently started close to the Gateway of India. The gunbattle then moved on towards CST and raged on for over 45 minutes from 10 pm. Gunfire has been reported from Nariman House, Cama Hospital, Metro cinema, Leopold Cafe. BP gas station blown up. Oberoi, Dadar stations evacuated, VT trains stopped. Terrorist gunfire also reportedly came from a Qualis van with police markings. 195 dead (updated) , scores injured.
Once again human life has been shaken with fear. Once again freedom has been challenged.
Tomorrow it will be forgotten.

This is terrible news. I am in the USA and am worried about my family and friends in Bombay.
US President- elect Barack Obama’s statement-
“President-elect Obama strongly condemns today’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks,” said Brooke Anderson, Chief National Security Spokesperson.
Crazy, just crazy. Seems like the terrorists are running rings around the police.
Its high time all the political parties sit to gether and take up the issue once for all and show some sense to such insane acts all over India.
It’s too terrible to be described in words. The press is calling it the biggest attack on India. I fear that this might not hold true for long. the way the terrorists are going, they seem to be surpassing themselves every time.
After 62 hour ordeal this is what political leader RR Patil wrote in his own political obituary, “Such small things keep happening in a big city.”
After all it is a “small” thing for them!
Dear Readers
The time for dialogue, tongue lashing, making sound-bites is over. Those responsible for the Bombay carnage without any exceptions have to be brought to the book.
I am not speaking about us becoming avenging angels but our leaders definitely need to demonstrate the will to bring all the perpetrators of this act of war to the book. It will not happen by piggy riding on the back of USA. The renegade elements inside Pakistani establishment are our target as without establishment support such a meticulously planned operation could not have been executed.
Pakistan has under pressure reacted but that is just eyewash. I do not rule out even a war at this stage if Pakistan establishment is not producing the desired results.
We all realize and appreciate the fact that India is slipping into anarchy if this act of war goes unpunished. There have been attacks one too many and since we all know where they emanate from – it is time we dished out the just desserts to Pakistan.
Let all Indians unite together in delivering this blow to the terrorists.
