President Obama makes a toast in honor of India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. If you watch the you tube video here, it appears he actually said “Prime Minister Mohammad Singh”. He welcomed all in hindi, “aapka suagut hai.”

Since I wrote last email, primaries in US has heated up. Democratic race is tighter than ever: Hillary Clinton, the presumptive front runner, is now behind the new comer Obama. On the Republican side, McCain has all but captured the nomination. All other major players have dropped out steadily and silently. Of course, no election season is complete without a few juicy scandals, a few skeletons dragged out of the closet. The latest round goes to McCain: his alleged affair with a lobbyist reported by NYT.

Here is another letter from J. This is a follow up of his earlier letter on Choice of Bias.
After my last email, I did some investigative reporting – otherwise known as pocking around on Google while at work. The current conventional wisdom is that Indian Americans are spilt between Hillary and Obama. There is a single report by Parveen Chopra based on interviews in NY. But it was reproduced over and over again. From regional media such as South Asian Post and national media such as Deccan Herald to local media such as newKerala and Mangalorean. Of course, the online sources such as Indian eNews and BigNews Network were there too. I even saw the same posting on Indian Muslims. You get the idea. I cannot help but wonder weather the report was widely used because it had important revelation or because it was the only one available? I have not come across another recent article about the topic yet.
This is a letter from an old and close friend of mine. How close you ask. Well, he lives in California, and still calls me friend even though we have not seen each other for years. We used to spend a lot of time together, but that was long time ago. Back then we used to share similar lives and ideas. I would not claim that to be true today. These are his words, his opinions. I told him about the blog, and asked him if he can contribute. He said he would be happy to do it, but on two conditions. I cannot pester him to write regularly, and I have to respect his privacy. So I shall call him J. Here is the letter from J without any edits.
